kaari sweater

one of my favorite feelings in the cold is being able to bundle up in all hand knit garments. just in time for another round of cold weather, i finally got the chance to finish my kaari sweater over the weekend, and i'm in love. i started this cozy sweater back in june for my birthday, when my mother in law gave me the best gift ever of going to her local yarn shop and picking out the yarn, needles, and pattern i needed to get going on this long time favorite.

i decided to go with lamb's pride mohair blend for this sweater, as i'm not a fan of the price and feel of the berroco merino suggested. i loved working with this yarn and am so happy with the weight and softness of this sweater. i could easily see any worsted weight yarn being a good substitute, in fact, i'm tempted to use up the yards and yards of lion brand fishermen's in my collection and knit another, except this time in a seamless version! i'm sure i wouldn't be sorry to have multiples of this beautiful sweater in my closet.

  2. This is lovely - it looks way better on you than in the pictures on the berroco website. I think this might have to be the first thing I knit myself after my baby is born in January.

  14. I love this look so much. What a gorgeous sweater! Is it a dress or skirt you're wearing it with?

I just did a wardrobe favorites post on my blog yesterday and if I'd seen this sweater/post I would have included it. As is it, I blogged about your sweater just now so it got its own post :)

  16. Hi Elly, I LOVE this and am hoping to be able to buy the bits to knit it up down her in New Zealand. I really love the wool you choose and hope you could confirm if its the brown sheep lambs pride worsted in grey heather ?or sandy heather? Colour wise its perfect... and not unlike the pip squeak chapeau jumper jenny posted about the other day. You ladies rock! cheers Gretchen

  19. I agree w/ knitting this seamless-I can't stand seaming! I think all my sweaters will be either raglan or contiguous sleeves. :) Beautifully knit--what a great birthday present, indeed.
