one more holiday knit


i finished up some lion brand wool-ease i had lying around on this baby gator scarf as a christmas present. i had almost enough (one last minute run to joann's to see if i could match just enough of the dye lot for the tail) leftover from a mini-sweetgrass sweater i knit this summer, so now she's got a sweater with a matching scarf! the baby gator pattern was really easy, but the bobbles took me longer than i had expected. my original (way too ambitious) plan was to knit these for all her little friends for christmas too, but halfway through the scarf, i knew it was time to abandon that idea and fast. maybe next year.

    i haven't planned on selling any of my patterns, mostly because they're just heavily modified versions of other people's patterns. but thanks for the interest!

    The alligator pattern can be found at Annie's Attic. I have knitted two for fans of the University of Florida. The team is known as the Gators. You know, Florida, swamp, and all that.

    hi torie! man, i think so. i mean, i'm totally from the school of "if you want to bad enough, you should really give it a try." it's a little tricky, not hard at all, just tricky to get all those stitches on the needles. it's not worth beating yourself up over it, but it sure is a fun outcome.

    also, it might be worth just casting on a couple stitches onto some spare needles before you buy the pattern and giving bobbles a try to see if they are workable for you. knittinghelp.com even has a video (halfway down the page) and it's easy to find the written standard bobble pattern online.

    the little bumps on the back aren't exactly "bobbles" but they use the same techniques. good luck!
