no 1: lopi sweater my sister jenah sent me.  she wore it for their family christmas photo and said the itchiness drove her bananas.  it's pretty itchy so layering is required, but i couldn't love it more!
no 2: vintage cabled cardigan my mother in law bought for me at the magical thrift store - the label reads "100% virgin acrylic" which made us laugh.  ooo, exquisite!
no 3: a pure wool norwegian sweater also found at the m.t.s.  fjord fashion by a. s. evebøfoss
no 4: handknit cabled sweater, thrifted from the magical thrift store
no 5: another handknit lopi, bought secondhand.

most of my favorite sweaters are the ones i didn't knit.  my closet is full of them and it's hard not to hope for cooler weather whenever i see them in stacks on the shelves.  some of them are handmade, some are machine knit, but all have been bought second-hand or have been given to me by the people i love.

a beautiful knit sweater always makes me want to pick up the needles.

  3. I love this group of sweaters! I've been searching for a nice (and reasonably-priced) vintage Lopi cardigan for months and months now... here's hoping I track one down before the cold weather hits.

  4. How can you tell if something is handknit?

  5. What a beautiful knit collection. I recognize the feeling of loving handknit but not the sweaters that I have made my self.

  6. i cherish my lopi I got at a second hand store in iceland. it's a bit itchy, but great as a warm layer. can't wait to pull it out when it gets colder. I have an acrylic cardi just like that one I got from a thrift store, got it for pennies and I was thinking about dyeing it.

  7. Wait, can I have it back now? Just kidding.

We have a love/hate relationship, that sweater and I. I love it on Elly- hate it on me.
