i just had to make another batch of this fresh baked bread for our bedridden neighbor. we figured she could use some cheering up with a bunch of fresh flowers, too.
it was snowing as we walked home, so we fired up the stove, watched arsenic and old lace and enjoyed the aroma of homemade bread.
arsenic and old lace! hah! i didn't know anyone else but me and my family watched that movie! :)
ReplyDeleteI love that last photo with the egg, how did you do that?! It is such a sweet gift for a sick neighbor.
ReplyDeletearsenic and old lace was one of our family favorites growing up too, anna! now it's fun to show it to the little one. thankfully, she likes it just as much as i do!
ReplyDeletethanks christine! that's actually a gift from my mother-in-law, although i'm sure my neighbor would have loved it too. isn't it cute?
My friend was in our high school's production of Arsenic & Old Lace many, many years ago. It was the first I knew of the play/film, but I've loved it ever since... especially Cary Grant; humor, charm, and fantastic looks all in one package!
ReplyDeleteI love simply-wrapped packages, of brown paper and twine :) i tend to use newspaper, but brown paper has wonderful nostalgia.
ReplyDeleteOh, I want to be your neighbor!
ReplyDeleteI really must try that bread...
ReplyDeletelove the flower in the egg...
elly, that is so sweet of you. what could be better than homemade bread + flowers? (i let out an audible sigh when i saw the bread. looks soooooo good)
